AOC Tax Partner Fernando Santos Shares Expertise on BIR VAT Audit Procedures
August 25, 2026 — The Association of Certified Public Accountants in Public Practice (ACPAPP) invited AOC Tax Partner Fernando Santos as one of its guest speakers during the ACPAPP General Membership Meeting held at the WSDC Training Room, SGV 1 Building, Makati City.
Fernan led the first session, titled “RMO No. 1-2022: How the BIR Conducts VAT Audits,” providing an overview of the BIR’s guidelines and procedures in conducting VAT examinations — including the review of VAT returns, books of accounts, financial statements, and output and input VAT to identify discrepancies and possible deficiency taxes. The session also underscored the importance of reconciling records, verifying supporting documents, and properly addressing audit findings to ensure accurate VAT reporting and compliance.
His participation reflects AOC’s continued commitment to professional development and knowledge sharing within the tax and accounting community. Through engagements such as this, AOC professionals are able to share their experience and expertise on relevant tax matters while contributing to the continuous learning of fellow practitioners and stakeholders.
The AOC Central Tax Advisory Services Team also joined the event, together with AOC Managing Partner Ryan Sabug, who serves as one of ACPAPP’s Directors.
The session served as another opportunity to promote greater awareness and understanding of tax audit practices, further underscoring the importance of staying informed on relevant tax regulations and procedures.
