AOC Brings Joy and Inspiration to Oratorians

AOC Brings Joy and Inspiration to Oratorians

On March 16, 2025, Alas Oplas & Co., CPAs held an outreach program at Brgy. Locomotive, Canlubang, Laguna, one of the Oratories organized by the Salesian Sisters. The Salesian Sisters, officially known as the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, are a Catholic religious community founded by St. Maria Domenica Mazzarello and St. John Bosco. They utilize oratories to provide a safe space for young people to gather, learn, grow in faith, and enjoy themselves. Sister Joan Silverio, a former head of the AOC Outsource team, represented the Salesian Sisters and conducted a brief catechism at the start of the program.

The event was orchestrated by the HR Team and led by HR Managing Director Jenny Catapang, with the support of Rodel Bascon, Partner-In-Charge of Laguna, and Director Rhoda Bascon, who actively participated in the meaningful gathering.

During the program, Tin Pangalangan, Manager of the HR/Payroll Team, delivered a brief but impactful talk on basic household financial management. The participants, primarily housewives, were highly engaged and shared their own tips on managing finances despite limited resources. Mr. Bascon also provided his insights, emphasizing the importance of evaluating annual income versus expenses to effectively sustain their finances. Rogielyn Barroga, HR Specialist and AOC’s Icebreaker master, conducted a separate session with the children, teaching them how they can assist their parents in managing family income.

The event transitioned from serious learning sessions to a few hours of exciting games, bringing smiles and laughter to both children and parents. The AOC Team also distributed thoughtful gifts to the children, making the day even more memorable.

The team gladly embraced the discomfort of traveling for an official business trip, with some members journeying from North to South on a Sunday. They knew that in return, they would bring joy and comfort to the beneficiaries, the oratorians. Indeed, it was a humbling experience to witness the happiness of the kids and their parents.

The program concluded with a heartwarming dance number by some of the kids, accompanied by a meaningful thank you message to AOC and those who supported the event, financially and in kind.
