AOC Embraces the Spirit of International Youth Day Through Moments of Giving

August 15, 2026 – A celebration does not always have to be about what we receive; sometimes, its greatest meaning lies in what we are able to give. In celebration of International Youth Day, Alas Oplas & Co., CPAs’ August Breaktime took on a deeper meaning as the firm turned its celebration into an opportunity to give back, extend kindness, compassion, and hope to young lives who are facing one of life’s most difficult battles. Led by HR Managing Director Jenny Catapang, the initiative brought together members from different teams within AOC, including Tin Pangalangan, Rogielyn Barroga, Grizelle Poliquit, Vina Cabello, and Melisa Gahoman, who came together to share their time, care, and support with the children of Bahay Aruga (A free Halfway House for Pediatirc Cancer Patients) Inc. in Paco, Manila.

The AOC team brought food and prepared gifts for the children, while also extending a modest contribution to support the foundation. To add fun to the visit, Vina Cabello facilitated a few games, with the winners receiving gifts from the team. Employees took the time to talk to the some children, check how they were doing, and simply be there with them. In between games and conversations, what stood out was not the grandness of what was given, but the genuine warmth shared between everyone.

The experience also gave a deeper meaning to this year’s celebration of International Youth Day. Youth is often associated with dreams, possibilities, and a future filled with opportunities. Yet for some young people, the journey toward that future comes with challenges far beyond what many of us can imagine. Their stories remind us that every young life deserves to be seen, heard, cared for, and given every reason to keep hoping.

Through this initiative, AOC reaffirmed its commitment to giving back and supporting causes that make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. The simple meal, games, gifts, and support extended to Bahay Aruga served as a reflection of the firm’s belief that every act of kindness, no matter how simple, can bring comfort and joy. As AOC continues to support initiatives that uplift communities, the firm hopes to create more opportunities to share not only what it has, but also its time, compassion, and care.

This August, AOC did more than celebrate youth. We celebrated the young lives who continue to hope, dream, and fight—and reminded them that they do not have to face their journey unseen or alone.
