July 1, 2026 – Alas Oplas & Co., CPAs celebrated its monthly BreakTime this July in observance of Accountancy Week through a meaningful session entitled “Accountants as Nation Builders.” The event brought employees together to celebrate the accounting profession and recognize the significant role accountants play in fostering transparency, accountability, and sustainable national development. Through engaging discussions and meaningful activities, participants were encouraged to continue making a positive impact in their profession and communities.
A solemn Holy Mass celebrated by Reverend Father Ogie Orpiada centered on the formation of conscience and the heart, reminding employees to uphold integrity, embrace the firm’s values, and allow God’s wisdom to guide their lives and profession.
Following the opening remarks of host Marvin Cadapan, the program highlighted the introduction of new employees, celebrated June birthday celebrants, and paid tribute to AOC team members for their years of commitment and service to the firm.
As part of the #AOCCelebrate segment Dr. Mark Moises A. Espelita, Dean of the College of Business Administration and Accountancy at Virgen Milagrosa University Foundation. In his talk, he emphasized that accounting is more than preparing financial reports. It is a profession built on responsibility, discipline, trust, integrity, and accountability. He shared how every accurate report, verified figure, and ethical decision contributes to protecting businesses, strengthening organizations, supporting communities, and fostering economic growth. Through his inspiring message, he reminded participants that accountants are not merely keepers of financial records, but true nation builders whose commitment to truth and excellence creates a lasting impact on society.
Following the insightful and inspiring discussion on the role of accountants as nation builders, employees shifted to a series of engaging games and interactive activities that brought energy and excitement to the celebration prepared by Ms. Vina Flor Cabello entitled Word Puzzle. The activity challenged participants to identify accounting-related terms, putting their knowledge and critical thinking to the test in a fun and interactive way.
Overall, the July BreakTime reflected the spirit of Accountancy Week by celebrating the profession’s invaluable contributions, inspiring employees to uphold the highest standards of integrity and accountability, and reinforcing the importance of unity and collaboration within the One AOC community.
