    DONNIES T. ALAS

    Chairman and CEO

    Donnies is the Founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of Alas, Oplas, & Co., CPAs. He has surged through the accountancy profession not just by being a competent Certified Public Accountant in the Philippines, but also by being a successful and respected businessman in the country. His thirty years of professional experience in various corporate industries and reputable firms, and expertise in the field of accounting, audit, finance, tax, and business management affairs led to the triumph of his Firm.

    In 2013, Donnies was elected as President of the Association of Certified Public Accountants in Public Practice (ACPAPP) for the year 2014 commencing January. ACPAPP has about 1000 public practitioner members.

    In 2011, Donnies unveiled yet another business venture–Alas Oplas Alliance Firm–a multi-faceted group of companies committed to delivering and exceeding service expectations in the fields of audit and assurance, tax advisory, accounting, internal audit and risk management, and consulting, leading a team of experts and professionals in the business services industry.

    A dedicated leader with an unwavering thirst for excellence and education, Donnies actively participates in numerous conventions, conferences, seminars, trainings, and special studies both in the Philippines and abroad. He is also a sought after guest speaker and lecturer.

    Aside from his remarkable credentials in the field and his active participation in several professional and socio–civic organizations, he is widely known for his opulent generosity and deep religiosity–attesting to how a versatile and well-balanced man he has always been. Amidst his busy schedule, he finds time to relax through his other passion–Golf. An avid and skilled golfer, he has membership with Tagaytay Highlands Golf and Country Club, Orchard Golf and Country Club, Riviera Golf Club, Bellamor Golf Club and Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club.

    MARYCRIS S. OPLAS

    Marycris is the Managing Partner of Alas, Oplas, & Co., CPAs, one of the Founding Partners of the Firm, she is responsible for its management and administration, specifically in setting directions towards the fulfilment of the Firm's goals and objectives, and providing the required level of leadership to its management and staff.

    She has been in the professional service for over 20 years, acquiring mastery and expertise in the fields of taxation and strategic financial services. Her areas of expertise are taxation and audit. She has handled issues like tax investigations and tax advisory services through a thorough understanding of business activities. Her reviews on procedures and controls of specific business process allow the company to identify the key risks and enable implementation of improvements to monitor and manage business process and technology risks.

    Her work philosophy is to develop a close relationship with clients so that they can be advised on company plans and transactions related to day-to-day business activities. Her broad experience consists of her assistance to different companies with the selection of business structure, corporate set-up, and tax registration. She works closely with clients of various industries, such as, advertising, international freight forwarding, manufacturing, importation and exportation, resort development, and automotive dealership.

    With seven years of professional experience as a Certified Public Accountant, Ryan has had a solid experience in planning and managing internal and external audits, where he was responsible for all phases of audit, including substantive and control testing, reporting, and the provision of consulting services.

    He commenced his career as an audit staff in RS Bernaldo and Associates, a correspondent firm of Panell Kerr Foster (PKF International). From then on he got promoted from Audit Staff I to Senior Auditor at the same firm. In his several years of experience as an external auditor, he has also handled internal audit, taxation, and corporate services engagements.

    Prior to becoming part of Alas, Oplas, & Co., CPAs, he was an Assistant Audit Manager where he managed auditing projects from start to completion, reviewed correspondences significant to the engagements, assisted in the assessment and management of business and risks of clients, planned and develop audit scope, objectives, and programs using risk and control-based auditing techniques, assessed internal control procedures, developed risk assessments for critical business processes, reviewed transactions, documents, records, and methods for accuracy and effectiveness, and trained, counselled, and appraised staff.

    Aside from his concrete experiences in the fields of external audit, internal audit, taxation, and other corporate services, Ryan also has participated in several local and international seminars and trainings.

    Glesie has more than eight years of solid experience in fields of audit, finance, tax, and accounting. She handled external audit and tax services engagements to Philippine and Singapore based clients with the industries of freight forwarding and logistics, manufacturing, mining, trading and distributing, consulting, travel agency, advertising, business process outsourcing, IT and other service providers.

As an auditor, he was exposed to different industries including banking, investment and holdings, manufacturing, construction, service, information technology, and non-profit organizations, gaining him expertise in the fields of audit practices and methods and local corporate taxation.

    JENNY C. CATAPANG

    Head, Human Resource and Admin

    With over seven years of pertinent experience in the areas of Compensation Management, Benefit Administration, Training, Recruitment and Placement, and Employee Relations, Jenny's expertise the field of Human Resources gained her the designation as Alas, Oplas, & Co., CPAs's Head of HR/Admin.

    A graduate of BS Psychology from Far Eastern University, she decided to enrich her academic education further by graduating with a Master's Degree in Industrial Relations from the University of the Philippines-School of Labor and Industrial Relations.

    She started her career in as a Recruitment and Training Assistant in Republic Chemical Industries, Inc. After two years, she moved to Raffles & Co., Inc. as an HR Generalist. In both of the aforementioned companies, Jenny was responsible in all HR functions for more than 100 personnel.

    Now, as the Head of HR/Admin of Alas, Oplas, & Co. CPAs, Inc., Jenny handles both in-house responsibilities and client services.
